Easily feature a set of posts or pages on your site using any existing tag of your choice.

Business Identity makes featured content available in several unique designs, and setting it up is a breeze. Featured content can be displayed on either your static front page or any page that uses the Featured Content template.

Create Your Featured Content Tag

First, it’s important to understand that in order to use featured content you’ll need to make sure that you’ve tagged your posts and pages with any tag of your choosing. For example, the tag that we’re using on this demo site is featured-content. We’ve tagged three pages with the featured-content tag, and these are the pages that will show up in our featured content area. (Note: You can view your post tags by going to Dashboard → Posts → Tags and your page tags by going to Dashboard → Pages → Tags.)

Tags can be added into both posts and pages. Choose one tag to use as your Featured Content tag.

Configure Your Static Front Page

Featured content was designed to work on your static front page or any page using the Featured Content template. In order to configure your static front page go to Dashboard → Settings → Reading. If you choose for your front page to only include your latest blog posts and not be static, then featured content will still work, but we suggest taking advantage of the static front page template that comes with the theme.

Configure Featured Content

Once your tags and static front page are set up then hop into your Customizer and configure your featured content section. Three unique designs are supported by Business Identity’s featured content section: slider (default), mosaic, and full screen. You can also control the quantity of posts and pages in the featured content section and the alignment of text. (Note: The maximum height allowed for background images is 1024 pixels.)

Important note: The large title that appears in each featured content slide is a normal post or page title that links to the individual post or page view for each of your slides. Use custom post excerpts in order to create the content that’s displayed on the slide. You can also take advantage of the special CSS class call-to-action to create a large call to action button.

Slider

When featured content is set to its default mode (slider), next and previous buttons—as well as slide anchors at the bottom of each slide—will be available to navigate through the featured content slides. Up to twelve (12) slides are supported; any more than that and you risk bogging down your website visitors’ connections. When only one (1) slide is present no controllers or slide anchors will be visible. (Note: All slide heights will be set to the height of the tallest slide in the slider.)

Note: While in slider mode you have the option to make your slides automatically change every set number of seconds (slow, 9 seconds; normal, 6 seconds; and fast, 3 seconds). You can also choose for the slides to stay still until a user manually clicks through them.

Mosaic

The Mosaic design option will stack your featured content posts and pages into tiled views, as seen below:

Full Screen

When the full screen design option is set for featured content every slide will be stacked on top of each other:

More Design Options

In addition to the three design options above you are also able to take advantage of text placement and slideshow mode (hides all text from slides but leaves them clickable) for your featured content. You’re also able to randomize your slides.
