Business Identity supports featured images on both posts and pages. Below you will find images demonstrating what you can expect them to look like throughout your website, as well as notes on how to implement them in your website.

Setting a featured image: For all posts and pages on your website the process of add featured images is the same. Simply edit your post or page and click on the text label that says “Set featured image”.

Front page hero: You have the option of setting a featured image for your front page hero section, which is the first thing that website visitors will see when they visit your new home on the web. This is a great opportunity for you to pick a beautiful image, coupled with a strong message, that will make your business truly shine. If no featured image is set for this area, then a solid color will be shown behind the text. The header image is assigned on the page that you select to be your front page template. The recommended width dimension for this area is at least 1440 pixels wide. Feel free to play around with the height of the image, but keep in mind that you’ll want to pick something that looks nice on all devices. One final note: you will need to edit the image to your liking before uploading. It will be used as-is, so any additional styling you’d like to make to the image (sharper contrast, blurred effects, opacity adjustments, etc.) are up to you.

Home Page Hero

Front page blog: You will need to have the front page template in use for this section to be visible on your site. Features images within this section are hard-cropped at an aspect ratio of approximately 3.43:1. This means that in desktop views the images will be 370 pixels wide by 108 pixels tall. This section of the home page (as well as the entire theme) is fully responsive, and will always make sure to display the featured images in this section with the aforementioned aspect ratio.

Front Page Template Blog

Blog index: The standard blog index supports featured images that are hard-cropped at an aspect ratio of approximately 3.42:1. This is very close to the aspect ratio that’s used for the front page, so the featured image that’s used on your front page blog section will look nearly identical to the featured image that’s used on your blog index page. When no sidebar is in use then the featured image of a blog post will be 770 pixels wide by 225 pixels tall.

How featured images are handled within single posts: Keep in mind that when you set a featured image for a post, it will not be displayed in the post. It is simply for presentational advantages throughout your business website. We’ve done this to ensure that you have total control over how your single post content is presented.

How featured images are handled within pages: When you set a featured image on a page, it will be displayed in the same position that your home page hero is positioned. We recommend that you use an image that is at least 1440 pixels wide for the section, to make sure that it appears crisp and sharp on all devices.

Testimonials: We’ve set up a dedicated page documenting how to set up testimonials on your website, but this section will go into more detail about recommendations for your testimonial images. On the front page of your website you have the ability to show customer testimonials. The images for your customers are set using featured images on the edit page for a single testimonial. The recommended size for customer images is 90 pixels wide by 90 pixels tall. On the home page the customer avatars will be shown at 45 pixels wide by 45 pixels tall.
